Barn Coat FAQ
The following questions/info refer to a dog I may get to live on a farm in Indiana with animals.
*The dog must get along with various animals including horses, llamas, goats, pigs, chickens, cats and other dogs.
*The dog must be a good, loyal protector for the animals and myself.
*The dog will be used for protection and overall companionship around the farm.
*Should I get more than one dog?
*The dog will live mostly outdoors in the large barn. What should the coat be like; long or short?
*What size; large, medium or small dog?
*Any breed recommendations?
*Should I get the dog from a shelter or see if neighbors have one available?
*What age should I get the dog; puppy, young adult or aged?
*If I were to get more than one dog and from a litter of pups, should I get them from the same litter as siblings or does it matter?
Any further advice would be great. I am aware that all dogs are different and have unique personalities and abilities so not one breed may fit all the requirements. This is the reason I think more than one dog may be necessary.
